These programs do not qualify Master Gardener “Rainwater Harvesting Specialist” or Texas Master Naturalist “Rainwater Steward” recognition.

2) Rainwater Harvesting Texas Master Naturalists – (RWH-TMN): This fee-based course is offered only for Texas Master Naturalist participants. It requires at least 15 hours of initial training (classroom and field activities) offered by Texas AgriLife Extension Service to earn “Rain Steward” recognition.

3) Rainwater Harvesting Master Gardener Specialist – (RWH-MGS): This fee-based course is offered only for Master Gardener participants. It requires at least 15 hours of initial training (classroom and field activities) offered by Texas AgriLife Extension Service and an additional 12 hours of volunteer service to earn “Rainwater Harvesting Specialist” recognition.

4) Rainwater Harvesting In-Home Use – (RWH-IHU): This fee-based course is offered to the public. It requires at least 8 hours of training for those wanting to design, install or use rainwater for in-home use. There is no prerequisite for experience.

5) Rainwater Harvesting Professional Accreditation – (RWH-PA): This fee-based, 8-hour course is offered to the public by the American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association (ARCSA). The workshop is one of a three parts for professional accreditation offered by ARCSA. Components include: an approved application showing experience in rainwater harvesting, satisfactory completion of the accreditation test, and ARCSA membership and program fee. The purpose of the ARCSA program is to recognize individuals with a high level of knowledge, proficiency and experience in rainwater capture. This course is also available for those seeking in-depth training, but not necessarily ARCSA professional accreditation. See the ARCSA Web site for more information.
