Training Programs
1)
Rainwater Harvesting County Programs – (RWH-CP): As part of
the Texas AgriLife Extension Service programming efforts, County Extension
Agents may offer rainwater harvesting classes. These programs do not
qualify Master Gardener “Rainwater Harvesting Specialist” or
Texas Master Naturalist “Rainwater Steward” recognition.
2)
Rainwater Harvesting Texas Master Naturalists – (RWH-TMN): This fee-based course is offered only for Texas Master Naturalist participants.
It requires at least 15 hours of initial training (classroom and field
activities) offered by Texas AgriLife Extension Service to earn “Rain
Steward” recognition.

Rainwater Harvesting Master Gardener Specialist – (RWH-MGS): This fee-based course is offered only for Master Gardener participants.
It requires at least 15 hours of initial training (classroom and field
activities) offered by Texas AgriLife Extension Service and an additional
12 hours of volunteer service to earn “Rainwater Harvesting Specialist” recognition.
4)
Rainwater Harvesting In-Home Use – (RWH-IHU): This fee-based
course is offered to the public. It requires at least 8 hours of training
for those wanting to design, install or use rainwater for in-home use.
There is no prerequisite for experience.
5)
Rainwater Harvesting Professional Accreditation – (RWH-PA): This
fee-based, 8-hour course is offered to the public by the American
Rainwater Catchment Systems Association (ARCSA). The workshop is
one of a three parts for professional accreditation offered by
ARCSA. Components
include: an approved application showing experience in rainwater
harvesting, satisfactory completion of the accreditation test,
and ARCSA membership
and program fee. The purpose of the ARCSA program is to recognize
individuals with a high level of knowledge, proficiency and experience
in rainwater
capture. This course is also available for those seeking in-depth
training, but not necessarily ARCSA professional accreditation.
