Description
Rainwater is collected from multiple sides of the Hidalgo County Extension Office and conveyed to numerous tanks around the building. Different types of tanks on site include a 1,000-gallon galvanized, a 585-gallon polyethylene, a 1,000-gallon fiberglass and a 2,000-gallon fiberglass tank. Water collected from the south side of the building is piped into a pump tank and pumped into the larger fiberglass tanks for storage. The galvanized and polyethylene tanks located in front of the office are constantly replenished with water utilizing a pump and pressure tank from the large fiberglass tanks. Collected water is used to supply surrounding gardens.
